Easy Cheesy – Learn To Make Cheese!

Have you ever felt drawn to making your own cheese or perfectly creamy and healthy yoghurt? Now you can, at Easy Cheesy on the Sunshine coast with Master Cheesemaker, Dawn Couchman.

I went with a group of like minded mates and by the end of the session I felt very confident that I could take my new found knowledge home and recreate easily what I had just learnt. Dawn’s easy to follow take-home recipes are wonderfully simple and scrumptious. The Easy Cheesy workshop also included a delicious morning tea where we sampled some of the workshop’s cheese products among other tasty local treats.

A Nature Reserve in the beautiful Sunshine Coast hinterland is the perfect setting for such an activity. As my mother, Aunty and I drove onto the property past the fruit trees and cottage and kitchen, to be personally greeted by Dawn, I felt a real sense of home and comfort in the simple things in life that are all too quickly forgotten in the city.

The half-day workshop was informative, well-structured and relaxed. We learned how to make a number of soft cheeses, including ricotta and mascarpone as well as home-made yoghurt and the refreshingly healthy whey lemonade.
