Slaughter Falls

There are a number of wood fire BBQ’s available to be used, as well as nearby tables which are perfect for a BBQ or picnic, and taps for water. A short walk in from the car park and toilets, you’ll find the Picnic Area, a luscious green flat area, where all the BBQ’s and tables are. The first walking track along the driveway of the park is the walk to the Bush Chapel area. It’s an open air chapel with a sandstone pulpit and log seating on a concrete base. There’s seating available for 30-40 people, and is a lovely place for an outdoor wedding.

The longest track is the Summit Track – 3.8km return trip, which takes at least an hour to complete if walking at a gentle pace. Great for trail runners. The terrain changes between bitumen, concrete and dirt. Walking along the creek is stunning, particularly after rain. There are also more bbq’s along the JC Slaughter Falls track that are on maintained tracks.

There are several tracks for bush walking.

This is a well known place for locals to walk their dogs, particularly early in the morning and late in the afternoon. The locals are friendly and most dogs are on leads, except for a few people who allow their dogs off which can be disastrous for the local wildlife. People who think they are above the law, usually have dogs who think they are above the law too. :( This is the only thing about Slaughter Falls that puts me off. I would like to see the Council make the bbq’s electric one day too.
